Footprints in the Community is a charity based in Redcar. It helps people and families facing poverty, loneliness and hard times. Food is a big part of its work. Footprints runs several foodbanks with the Trussell network. To use them, you need a voucher. A social worker, housing officer or health worker can refer you. Each food parcel holds enough food for three days. Staff and volunteers give a warm welcome and point people to other help. Footprints also runs social supermarkets. Members pay a small fee and shop each week. They can choose fresh food, tins and toiletries. This costs less than a normal shop and cuts food waste. Footprints runs other projects too. These include community cafés, friendship groups and support for people in recovery.
