About us
Whale Hill Community Centre, run by the Whale Hill Estate Community Association, serves the residents of the Whale Hill Estate and surrounding areas in Redcar & Cleveland.
It provides a communal space for a wide range of activities aimed at improving local quality of life; from community events and training sessions through to arts, sports, and social clubs.
Managed by a small team of trustees and volunteers, the centre’s mission is to foster community development by offering inclusive, accessible facilities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Over the years, the centre has hosted various initiatives including fitness groups, parent–child activities, craft workshops, and holiday programmes for young people.
It also partners with local employment and training providers to deliver educational and vocational support, helping residents improve their skills and build confidence.
With a focus on inclusivity, it caters to children, older adults, people with disabilities, and those needing assistance, acting as a reliable anchor of support in the community.
The centre operates a flexible cinema-style events room and multipurpose spaces that are regularly used for exercise classes, clubs, and wellbeing sessions.
Additionally, it offers advisory services and advocacy support to help local people navigate life’s challenges.
With funding mainly coming from grants and local fundraising, the centre continues to expand its services to meet emerging community needs.
Accessible and community-focused, Whale Hill Community Centre welcomes virtually anyone in need of connection, learning, or support.
It’s open several days a week, including evenings and weekends, offering classes ranging from arts and crafts to sports and education.
