About us
East Cleveland Good Neighbours began in March 2020 as a grassroots, volunteer-led initiative supported by Tees Valley Rural Action, responding to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in rural East Cleveland communities.
Facing isolation, disrupted services, and rising need, local residents came together to provide essential help; creating a network that spans villages from Brotton and Skelton to Loftus and Boosbeck.
As the immediate crisis subsided, East Cleveland Good Neighbours shifted to more sustainable community support.
They now operate ongoing foodbank services, fuel voucher issuance, and community-friendly drives such as “Soup Funding”, which allocates microgrants to local groups to spark grassroots initiatives.
Central to its mission remains the commitment to open, non-judgmental access and neighbourly solidarity.
What began as a rapid-response project during a global emergency has matured into a long-term platform for strengthening rural community ties.
With backing from local funders, a growing volunteer base, and ambitions to become an independent constituted body, East Cleveland Good Neighbours continues to provide practical aid while nurturing resilience, connection, and shared purpose across East Cleveland.
