Beyond Housing

About us

Beyond Housing is a community-focused housing association serving areas across Yorkshire and the North East, dedicated not only to providing affordable homes but also to strengthening communities through a broad range of support and engagement programmes.

Among its various initiatives, Beyond Housing manages the Westfield Farm Community Resource and Training Centre in Dormanstown, Redcar, as part of its mission to improve wellbeing, create opportunities, and encourage sustainable lifestyles.

The Westfield Farm Growing Space forms key part of this community-centred work, offering a peaceful green environment where residents can learn gardening skills, grow vegetables, and cultivate flowers.

The project is volunteer-led and open to individuals of all experience levels, helping participants develop confidence, practical knowledge, and connections with others.

One volunteer described it as a “friendly place to be” where they could learn traditional gardening skills while another valued the chance to build friendships and improve wellbeing through regular participation.

Based at Westfield Farm, the site is more than the Growing Space: it also hosts free IT and job-club sessions, computer access, and training in CV writing, interview techniques, and job applications.

These activities are part of Beyond Housing’s broader work to support personal development and help residents overcome barriers to employment and social inclusion.

Beyond Housing further supports Westfield Farm through partnerships with local groups like Friends of Westfield Farm, who organise community events such as bug hunts, coffee mornings, and social gatherings.

A £500 donation from Beyond Housing helped fund gardening workshops, community activities, and equipment for volunteers.

Overall, Beyond Housing’s presence at Westfield Farm demonstrates a holistic approach to community support—combining housing, training, social connection, and sustainable practices to enrich lives in Redcar.
